Huelskamp Demands Answers from FBI Director Comey

Press Release

Date: July 8, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) signed on to a letter with dozens of other members of Congress demanding answers from Director Comey about his shocking recommendation on Tuesday to not indict Hillary Clinton.

The letter relates to Clinton's years-long strategy of conducting official business with classified information on an unsecure server in an unauthorized location, endangering our national security.

"No one, especially a Clinton, should be above the law, and Kansans deserve truthful answers about how anyone could look at the evidence Director Comey laid out and come to the conclusion that she should be off the hook for her crimes," Huelskamp said.

He went on to talk about the recent developments that led to the announcement.

"We need answers from Comey and the rest of the Obama Administration. There is nothing more corrupt than a group of top officials working to get one of their own out of an indictment. Just last week, the former president and husband of the suspect Hillary Clinton met with Comey's boss Loretta Lynch at a "coincidental' meeting. Further, a private and unrecorded meeting between Hillary and the FBI took place the very next day."

"The conclusions of Comey, combined with his clear conflict of interest, plus the appearance of political pressure, demand further investigation, transparency, and public scrutiny."

The full text of the letter will be released early next week.
